SESSION 10: THE 100 YEAR PLAN

Class Activity

100 Year Plan for Perth

Reflection from the Lecture

Today's lecture was very beneficial. It changed my view on how things are all linked together, from tech advancements to environmental changes. The part about the Anthropocene Age hit home, making me realize we need a major shift in our thinking about sustainability and development. It challenged my old views on progress and highlighted the urgent need for innovative, forward-thinking solutions to tackle today's big challenges.

Rethinking the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was another big takeaway for me. Before this lecture, I saw the SDGs as fixed targets to hit through traditional methods. However, the talk about visionary leadership and the future of work made me see that we need a more flexible and creative approach to achieve these goals. This new way of thinking has inspired me to be more adaptable and creative in my work, always looking for new ways to contribute to sustainable development in our fast-changing world.

The idea of visionary leadership, especially in the context of the future of work, really struck a chord with me. I realized that being a good leader nowadays isn't just about handling the unknown but also about having the vision to predict and influence upcoming trends. This made me want to actively work on improving my leadership skills, focusing on creating a vision that matches the changing needs of society and the environment. I'm dedicated to growing into a leader who can bring about real change and inspire others. That lecture really broadened my view on leading in the 21st century and gave me the drive and knowledge to leave a meaningful mark.

Applying what I learned from today's lecture, I can start by integrating sustainability into my daily life and work. For example, I can focus on reducing waste and supporting eco-friendly practices at home and in my workplace, aligning with the Anthropocene Age's call for a shift in sustainability thinking. In my professional projects, I will adopt a flexible approach to the SDGs, looking for innovative and creative ways to meet these goals rather than sticking to traditional methods. To develop my visionary leadership skills, I'll seek out opportunities to lead projects or teams, staying informed about emerging trends and encouraging my team to think ahead and embrace change. By doing this, I can foster a proactive, future-focused mindset in myself and those around me, helping drive meaningful and positive change.
